I think the sad thing about this tech is that media framing it in a positive light gets relatively zero attention in comparison to media that frames it as controversial, evil, creepy, elitist, what have you, which inspires PLENTY of attention. For better or for worse, controversy sells in today's markets.
The media piece is largely positive. The comments are largely positive.
Framing (positive or negative) isn't what determines the amount of attention.
What determines the amount of attention is the audience size of the person talking about it. The audience mostly just consumes whatever their channel tells them to consume. People are passive and habitual.
So, the way to spread positive news is to get a positive influencer who likes you to talk about you. Rather than invite into your home someone who hates you, such as Julia Black.
Mmmmm, this seems true but not insurmountable. It's not like funny baby videos are unpopular.
But, instead, I would point to the fact that I'm not sure this tech wants to be popular. Keep it boring, keep it basic, smiling baby and happy parent. Perhaps the only thing better than being loved is being boring and ignored, which this video certainly accomplished and maybe that's a good thing.
Genomic Prediction claims that Aurea is the first. I don’t have any evidence to the contrary but if someone knows of another earlier baby, I’d be interested. If there was someone earlier, they probably do not want attention on their family.
I shared this on facebook with the context of how i have some genetic troubles and depression tendencies that i would like to not pass down to my child, and got no responses, aside from a conservative friend who basically saw this whole thing as abortion and immoral. and my dad misconstruing it as me saying i wish i hadnt been born? i dunno why he felt the need to say that
My text with the shared video: "Video of one of the first babies born with embryo selection (PGT-P), a teqnique were parents and doctors choose between different embryos to reduce the chance of chronic ilnesses like diabetes.
This is pretty amazing, and very sci fi: i have issues with mild chronic depression, and it would be incredible if i could woth my future partner choose an embryo that has as low chance of depression as possible, because there has been days were i wish i wasn’t born, and i want as few of those as possible for my kids. Life is cool, and more cool lifes and babies is cool.Video of one of the first babies born with embryo selection (PGT-P), a teqnique were parents and doctors choose between different embryos to reduce the chance of chronic ilnesses like diabetes.

I think that reducing risk of mental disorders and depression would be an important use of this technology. Perhaps it should actually be the primary use for many. Depression is a terrible thing to have.
Thankfully, as you know. Depression is not genetically determined entirely and environments can be changed. Treatment exists and it can actually help people. I wish you the best.

Not true at all.
This is the media piece that got the most attention:

This is the media piece that got the second most attention:

Is it really the first one? Or just the first one that is being promoted?

Very curious about this question as well. Even interested in a BOTEC on how many of these kids there already are.
BOTEC? I would be interested as well.
